| Western Mongolia
Western Mongolia, where Kazakstan, Russia, China and Mongolia all meet at one famous point, is
home to the renowned Eagle Hunters, the Chinggis Khan's capital Karkhorin and Erdene Zuu Monastery,
and stunning landscapes - mountains and lake inviting the trekkers..
Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain is a part of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park and is a dream travel
destination for trekkers, mountaineers, wildlife lovers, and nature lovers. Not only nature, but
the surrounding area is also home to various ethnic groups and historical sites. The highest peak
of the mountain is snowcapped Khuiten Peak (4374 m), the highest point of Mongolia. The main habitats
of the mountain are Argali wild sheep, Ibex, and snow leopard. The best way to travel to Altai Tavan
Bogd Mountain is overland drive seeing amazingly beautiful sights and natural formations along the way. |
Naagii has been bringing tourists to the Eagle Hunting festivals and
to hike the Altai Tavan holy mountain, the 2 main tour themes.
NB. Naagii and her team are very experienced in off-road driving, have excellent, comfortable, safe
vehicles for clients, and know all features of logistics - planning for food and water, fuel,
accommodation etc., to ensure safety is the number one priority for tourists.
The Golden Eagle festival in October, in Bayan-Ulgii region, is a festival to demonstrate the culture
of the eagle-hunter Kazakhs in the western regions of Mongolia. The festival is 1,600 km from Ulaanbaatar,
near the border with Kazakstan, so flying is the best way to attend the festival.
Golden Eagle Festival
Altai Tavan Bogd is the most western, highest, and most remote national park in Mongolia. This
national park offers 3 established trekking routes, with lakes, glaciers, and even a summit ascent
of Mount Khuiten for technical climbers. All tours start from the "Five Saints" near Tsengel, at
the start of the Tavan Bogd massif, a cluster of glaciated peaks bordering Russia and China.
Please note, trekkig and park permits may be required. Naagii can assist in organising these.
